An evening to bring people together again in the quiet of winter was inspired by childhood memories of Bega’s main street being closed off for Christmas shopping in the ’90s. Jessica Dwyer, co-owner of The Hub, decided she would try to create a lively night in Bega by bringing together local businesses to stay open on May 6, just before Mother’s Day. “When I grew up in Bega, they’d close of the main street around Christmas time and the whole place would become alive, there would be a massive buzz,” Ms Dwyer said.
