Well over a year after the Green Wattle Creek fire destroyed the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary at Bargo, the doors have opened again.
- The Australian Wildlife Sanctuary has reopened after it was almost completely destroyed by a bushfire
- No animals were killed in the fire but they are still in care
- The sanctuary is welcoming visitors while extensive rebuilding work continues
While the team managed to evacuate all the animals before the firestorm swept through on December 19, 2019, every structure on the 220-acre Southern Highlands sanctuary was destroyed.
With the animals in care due to start returning in the next few weeks, managing director Brad Wilson said he was delighted to welcome people back.
